International Relations/Federal Government Committee

2020 Co-Chairs: Marge Cox and Molly O’Brien

The LWV CVA International Relations/Federal Government Committeee covers the world including the United States, as our title implies. Previous to the Covid-19 pandemic, our twice monthly meetings were very well attended, thanks to our gracious hosts (we met in members’ homes), informative reports and stimulating conversation. Just a sampling of the topics we discussed over the past years includes: the Brexit Vote, Solar Power, Feminism in Scandinavia, The Supreme Court, Redistricting and Gerrymandering, Firearms Safety, Study Abroad, the Rise of the New Right in Germany, the Mexican Border Situation, Robotics, Right to Work, Immigration, US Diplomacy, The Ukraine, Turkey, Trade Agreements, and Cross Cultural Studies.

Starting in September 2020, the IR/FG committee will meet by Zoom with our first meeting on Wednesday, September 16. New members will be introduced and a report on Cuba will be given by Elizabeth Franks. For more information about this committee and how to attend meetings, contact Marge Cox, 434-245-5228, or email: margevfcox@gmail.com.
